VATICAN CITY — As you know, Pope Francis has just set
a Vatican speed record by giving the Catholic church 813
new saints in a matter of minutes.
Canonized were a large group of Italians who were beheaded
by Turkish invaders for defying demands to convert to Islam
533 years ago.
The massacre occurred in 1480 and the courageous Christians
who shed their blood -- and their heads -- are forever known
as "The Martyrs of Otranto," the city in which they lived.
Pope Francis performed the canonization ceremony, his first
since becoming Pontiff, before a SRO crowd in St. Peter's
Square on Sunday.

< AN URGENT E-MAIL TO THE HOLY FATHER

Congratulations, Pope Francis. You've made a veru wise
decision.
<
Now what are you going to do about Pope John XXIII?

Isn't it time the Catholic Church cut the baloney and
declared him a saint as well? It's long, long, long
overdue.
<
After all, without your beacon-nosed roly poly predecessor,
there wouldn't have been The Miracle of the Sheppton
Coal Mine Cave-In and Miraculous Rescue.
<
This year, in August, we mark the 50th anniversary
of the greatest mining rescue in the history of History
and, as you certainly know, Pope John played a very
important role.
<
I mean, after all, back in August of 1963 . . .

Your Holiness, why don't you just turn to my Web

P.S. Pope Francis, P-L-E-A-S-E don't give out my
phone number. I hate to get woken up in the middle
of the night by people I don't even know.
